This high relief sculpture is a collaborative work commissioned to my school by a large church in Madrid, Spain. It was an honor to be asked to work on this piece, which was the vision of my instructor Cody Swanson. He did the drawing for this Visitation scene and then I sculpted the relief to this point:
From here the work was picked up by my other instructors, Fernando Cidoncha and Fabio Deiana, as I was interrupted by Christmas vacation. They completed the background and casted into plaster:
The finished relief will be carved out of alabaster by a team of carvers in Carrara, Italy and will find it's home in the Madrid church sometime this fall.
