The Visitation
This high relief sculpture was a collaborative work commissioned to my instructor, Cody Swanson, at the Sacred Art School in Florence, Italy. He created the sketch and oversaw as I sculpted his drawing into relief. With his instruction, I brought the piece to the point seen in the picture on the right before it was completed by Cody Swanson, whose edits and refinements can be seen in the finished picture above. Fernando Cidoncha and Fabio Deiana, also collaborated in this work by completing the background and casting it into plaster, all overseen and finished by Cody Swanson. The final work was translated into alabaster and installed in a church in Madrid, Spain.
It was an honor to be part of bringing this altar piece to life as The Visitation is one of my favorite scenes in scripture, found in Luke 1:39-56.
"Most blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb...Blessed are you who believed that what was spoken to you by the Lord would be fulfilled."
